Dear brothers and sisters, Rosie Torrez, the principal coordinator for the Hispanic community, has written a hopeful message to her community, which I thought would benefit all of us at St. George. Please see that message below. -Fr. Ben
Good afternoon brothers and sisters in Christ. Many of us have already heard that Bishop Gerald Barnes has temporary canceled all parish events, worships gathering, Sunday Masses and catechetical formations until further notice. This decision was made for the safety of our parishioners and lay ministerial volunteers. Father Dominic is asking us, as faithful believers and servants of the Lord, to please avoid any negative comments or discussions among ourselves or with others. Instead, let us pass on positive ideas that can help others feel better in this difficult time. These include taking time out for personal prayers, for fasting, for spending with our love ones, for listening to the daily live mass during the day by Internet or TV. We can choose a family in need and share our meals with them. There are so many wonderful ways to full fill our hearts with hope and positive motivations. The situation is out of our hands, and we all know that this is not the first time our Catholic faith has gone through crisis. Our ancestors have gone through this and have succeeded in strengthening their faith. God’s grace and mercy are available to us. Let us show our faith by being obedient, by bending our knees, by fasting, and by praying wherever we are. The Lord is with us, he has not left us.
