St. George Parish Ministries

Picture
What is parish ministry?  The Catechism of the Catholic Church, paragraph #874, gives a wonderful explanation of what it is.  "Christ is himself the source of ministry in the Church. He instituted the Church. He gave her authority and mission, orientation and a goal.   In order to shepherd the People of God and to increase its numbers without cease, Christ the Lord set up in his Church a variety of offices which aim at the good of the whole body. The holders of office, who are invested with a sacred power, are, in fact, dedicated to promoting the interests of their brethren, so that all who belong to the People of God . . . may attain to salvation."

Young Adult Ministry

The Catholic Church has always sought to provide ministry to people in their teens, twenties, and thirties through marriage preparation, campus ministry, Catholic singles groups, military chaplaincies, and participation in various organizations and movements. Young adult ministry itself, as a designated area of pastoral care, has been part of church life in many dioceses for decades.

Catechetical Ministry

Catechetical ministry is an important way for the Catholic church to carry out its mission of evangelization. “Catechesis is the act of handing on the Word of God intended to inform the faith community and though to be initiated into the Church through the RCIA program about the teachings of Christ, transmitted by the Apostles to the Church.  Catechesis also involves the lifelong effort of forming people into witnesses to Christ and opening their hearts to the spiritual transformation given by the Holy Spirit. ”

Art & Environment Ministry

Participants in the St. George Decorating Ministry help to create a warm and inviting church atmosphere by offering their time, talent, and treasure to beautify the House of the Lord.  We strive to make the liturgical seasons and feast days come alive through the visual aids of color and design.  This ministry also decorates the hall for parish functions and tends to the flowers and plants in the facility. Whether it is a Special Event, Holiday or to make the Sanctuary beautiful, the goal of our team is to beautify the property God has blessed us with.
